This piece is
Down Syndrome, which occurs when the chromosomes do not separate properly in cell division. Someone with Down Syndrome has an extra 21 chromosome which results in the symptoms of Down Syndrome (written on DNA strands in background). People with Down Syndrome have very happy, innocent dispositions (represented through the color scheme in background and chromosomes). This piece has developed considerably from its early direction and the suggestions I received at the critic helped me to change it to the way it looks now. However, I am uncertain about the extra chromosome in the middle of the bottom row of chromosomes. I don't know how best to make it stand out, while still making it appear to be a part of the set of chromosomes.
Better MUCH BETTER. :) the light back ground and the yellow chromosomes give a colorful insight into the psychy of someone with down syndrome. The odd man out chromosome however; could use a different color or be brighter to give the sense of anomaly amoung the chromosomes.
ReplyDeleteMUCH BETTER! The back ground is so great! And I'm glad you did the dna. I also like how the extra one stands out! you could maybe make it stand out more if you want to but it looks great!
ReplyDeletei love this one! i'm really glad you decided to lighten up the background because it looks really good. But what looks even better are your colorful chromosomes! you put some really good texture into them! the DNA strands made from the words is also really creative. good job!
ReplyDeletethis is so great laura I am really glad you made the changes you did. really think about your color scheme for future projects and I think they will keep looking good.
ReplyDeleteMy only suggestion is for you to work back into and add the bottom of a higher row at the very top of your canvas. I think I might extend some of the chromosomes off your canvas on the sides as well. It would make your composition and positive/negative space more interesting.
